Special Activated Carbon

Ecologix provides several additioanl special grades of activated carbon for those special applications where either standard or our impregnated carbon products are not sufficient.

Available Special Activated Carbon Types

Spherical Coal Based Activated Carbon
Design for maximum water filtration in mind, it is comprises of specially molded round/spherical shape. Round/spherical shape has the advantages of preventing the common issue of channeling in the water filtration process. The round shape preserves the reaction contact area to increase the life-span of activated carbon over time and increase the effectiveness of activated carbon. It have very minute amount of ash (0.5% ash is typical) to eliminate/reduce backwashing time. It has stable pH range of 6 - 7 to prevent pH shock. Main applications are for potable water filtration, aquarium water filtration and other chemical filtration application.
  Pelletized Coconut Shell Activated Carbon
This is a virgin pelletized activated carbon from coconut shell. It has high activity and surface area make it ideal for most vapor phase applications. Its size and the uniformity of its shape make it particularly attractive in applications where low pressure drop is a consideration.

Activated Carbon Fiber

Activated Carbon Fiber or ACF for short has a very unique physical property that extends the benefit of activated carbon. It comes in several types for a wide variety of industrial application. The most common types are non-woven and woven types.

Non-woven ACF comprises of layered activated carbon fiber spun together to create sheets of activated carbon. Main applications are: face mask, outdoor gear, military application, water filter, and air filter.

Woven ACF comprises fusion of activated carbon and fabric material to create layered activated carbon fabric. Main applications are: face mask, outdoor gear, military application, apparel industries, and air filter.

Gold and Precious Metal Recovery Carbon
6X12GOLD is a premium granular activated carbon made especially for use in gold recovery applications. Its particle size and pore structure have been specifically designed to provide the best adsorption of metal and cyanide complexes from Carbon-in-pulp, Carbon-in-column, or tank adsorbed system. This product is manufactured under stringent controls to make a carbon with the ultimate in hardness and ability to be regenerated.

6X12GOLD is processed from selected coconut shell and activated at high temperature using steam process to develop internal surface area. The activated product is crushed, washed and classified by size. After activation, the carbon is put through a process to remove platelets. Each batch is tested twice to assure the best in quality control.

Our superior hardness grade, Inca Gold, is available at a hardness of 99+%. Carbon tetrachloride adsorption values range from 45% to 65% as specified iodine adsorption values from 900 to 1200+. The gold adsorption capacity is specified and tested on every lot of the carbon to ensure maximum gold recovery. As well as superior hardness and undergoes pre-attrition to minimize gold losses and prevent plugging of screens.
