JOB OPPORTUNITY: Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Alpharetta, GA

Duties: Responsible for the overall layout and design of water/wastewater treatment systems and equipment using current engineering standards and practices including piping, yard, facilities, equipment layout and drawing production, P&ID, fabrication and shop drawings. Responsible for equipment design including bar screens, vortex separators, valves, bar screens, sludge dewatering, mezzanine, FRP tanks for chlorine and caustic solution storage, tank farms, traveling bridge cranes, metering pumps, centrifugal pumps, blowers, sump pumps, wash water pumps, flow measurement and miscellaneous piping systems using materials to include stainless steel, galvanized, HDPE, FRP, PVC, ductile iron pipe. Responsible for design (mechanical) of water/wastewater treatment facilities with QC and construction management/oversight. Produce construction drawings related to multiple functional areas or processes for all processes of wastewater treatment. Provide expert in designing Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) and Biological treatment systems such as MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor) and MBR (Membrane Bio-Reactors). Write and review specifications and coordination of all disciplines using current engineering standards and practices. Review project plans and stakeholder coordination throughout detail design. Review specifications and vendor submittals to include shop drawing review and record drawing management. Use Solidworks 3D engineering design tools, including sheet metal, weldment, large assembly designs, stress analysis, and fabrication drawings.

Requires: Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2 years experience in the job offered or related position. Experience which may have been obtained concurrently must include two years experience involving the design (mechanical) of water/wastewater treatment facilities with QC and construction management oversight, and Solid Works 3D engineering design tools, including sheet metal, weldment, large assembly designs, stress analysis, and fabrication drawings, and on year experience involving designing water/wastewater systems and equipment using current engineering standards and practices.
