OIL DETECT SWITCH
The Oil Detect Pump Switch Is a stand-alone pump controller,requires no expensive electrical panels, will operate any pump up to 1HP includes built-in ON and OFF deferential of 2” or 6”. An industrial grade switch for any pump application used to control water pumps in elevators, utility, marine, and industrial sump applications. Installation will prevent hydrocarbons from being inadvertently pumped into the environment and oil will not harm or contaminate this capacitive technology. The Oil Detect Switch can be an integral part of the pump assembly or a stand-alone component wired to the pump or a control valve. The sensor is a totally a solid-state electronic unit in a watertight case and is easily installed and maintained. The sensors come with 2” or 6” differentials and are unique in that they differentiate between oil and water, thereby allowing maximum elimination of water without pumping oil that may be floating on its surface.

ADVANTAGES
In addition to the unique ability to differentiate between water and oil, our circuitry has the following advantages over presently used switches. Unlike troublesome float switches, continuity switches, or the other so-called “electronic switches,” performance is not hampered by accumulated oil & grease. What this means is if an oil spill is present and water intrusion continues, the Oil Detect Switch will continue to pump water out from under the oil spill. Additionally the Oil Detect Alarm system is independent of the pumping system. That means if the pump system fails for any reason, you still have the alarm. Now responsible owners and operators can safely control their discharges into our environment.

OPERATION
Sensing is accomplished by measuring the dielectric constant of the medium at the sensor. To prevent cycling the pump off and on, the sensor has two sense points, one to control the water level for pump turn on and one to control the point to turn the pump off. The separation of these two points are controlled by two independent sensors that connect to a logic circuit that works as follows: when the water level reaches the top sensor the pump will turn on and pump until the lower sensor is uncovered, at this time the pump will turn off and stay off until the top sensor is again covered by water.
